Jahmaris Nesbitt
Jahmaris is a 100 metre runner from St Croix, and was at university in Colorado at the time of the 2020 (2021) Tokyo Paralympics. To gain her classification and a place in Tokyo, Jahmaris competed at the major annual Para athletics event in Arizona earlier that year.
In Tokyo she was unlucky to be drawn in the heat with both the current World record holder and current Paralympics champion for the ladies 100m sprint. With the two of them racing in the heat to beat each other’s record times, they gained faster times in that heat than they did in the final, so it was a tough draw for Jahmaris who nonetheless enjoyed her moment on the track.
